Workshops
We’re all about creating experiences in our communities that bring people together. We partner with so many community spaces, like breweries, to bring our planty workshops all around town. Make your own terrarium, create a live pumpkin succulent arrangement, learn how to better care for your plant babes or even how to make more of them. When you come to one of our live workshops, you’ll leave with something awesome AND feel a sense of belonging and connection- and that’s totally the point.
In Person Pop-Up Shopping
Wander & Root isn’t your average plant shop. With our mobile plant trailer, we create a one of a kind shopping experience as we pop up in your favorite Pittsburgh neighborhoods. We believe in creating something special. That’s why we hand make our own concrete pots, bringing another personal touch to your plant experience.
We also have plants for sale year round in some cool gift and vintage shops and self-serve plant stands inside of a brewery and coffee shops.
Wherever you find us, we hope to leave you with inspiration to explore the joy of plants and connect with nature!

Grab two for a cozy couples night in, grab a few and host an iconic girls night, grab a bunch and be the office team building hero. Our super popular Cacti & Succulent Terrarium DIY Kits are available year round, and other kits are released seasonally..
And new for 2025, we are dropping fun new plants every week. Plants are available for shipping or local pickup through our plant partner sites.
Our Story
I started Wander & Root because I love plants. They’re just the best. There’s something for everyone. For me, I love the crazy weirdo plants and learning about all the crazy weirdo things they do. I love the way plants add a special something to my home. I love teaching my boys about the new things I’ve learned. I love talking plants with everyone at our pop ups- commiserating and encouraging. And I love the feeling of accomplishment when I see a brand new leaf unfurling.
There’s no such thing as a black thumb! You just need the knowledge to give the right plant the right conditions. We’ll give you the knowledge you need to help your new plants thrive in your home.
Hey there, I’m Amanda! I’m a Pittsburgh native whose life has been full of (sometimes ridiculous) turns and surprises that have ultimately led me here, living my dream life in the world of houseplants. Jon’s is the other face you’ll see at our Pop Ups. When he’s not working his real job as a graphic designer, he is being the very best (unpaid) worker for Wander & Root and our #1 supporter and figure-outer-er.
We love hanging out at markets and breweries so that’s where you’ll mostly find us. We love Pittsburgh and all the little towns that make it up. We love exploring new neighborhoods and visiting old favorites. We’re bringing plants to the people and having a blast doing it.
